The Hishaku Lamp Series

Minimalist lamps inspired by traditional wood ladles used in Japanese temples.

Designed by award-winning designer Keiji Ashizawa for ZAOZUO, the Hishaku lamp series draws inspiration from the traditional hishaku. Made of wood, the ladles were used in temples to scoop water and purify the body and soul before entering the scared space. The Hishaku is also used in the tea ceremony and the kitchen. In this collection, the familiar shape weaves a thread of light that connects traditional rituals and modern living spaces. Similarly to other products and spaces created by the designer, the lamps have a minimalist style and pure forms. Without any unnecessary detailing, the elegant table and floor lamps take their place in contemporary interiors, illuminating spaces without stealing the spotlight.

The lamps maximize function with a two-way swivel shade that allows the user to easily direct the light where needed. The dimming feature provides a convenient solution to brighten a work desk and reading area or create a softer light for a cozy mood. A tubular support and circular base provide excellent stability while making carrying the lamp as easy as possible. The Hishaku collection comprises a table and a floor lamp. Both versions come with energy-efficient LEDs that produce a glare-free light. Made from durable metal, the lamps boast a tactile sand lacquer finish.
