HM5: “On the Road Again” by MB&F

View all 8 Photos

The fifth in the series of MB&F’s Horological Machines – essentially timepieces – “On the Road Again” resurrects a rebellious design from the 1970’s Amida Digitrend that rejected the quartz revolution to time-keeping. Of course, in MB&F’s modern interpretation, high-precision mechanics finally enable recognition and reliability to be entrusted to the purely mechanical watch. The vertical, forward-facing display of time is a cleverly engineered result of a sapphire crystal prism that projects a reflection of the numbers. The design screams futurism, with its zirconium case and scored, black rubber strap, and also evokes memories of the flat, aerodynamic forms of supercars of the retro period.
