The Hygge Furniture Collection

A versatile seating collection inspired by coastal landscapes.

Designed by Swedish design studio Kauppi & Kauppi for renowned furniture brand Karl Andersson & Söner, Hygge is a furniture collection that draws inspiration from the coastal landscape of the Danish Læsø island. The “islands” combine form and function in flexible and minimalist designs. Made with an understated aesthetic but a distinctive look, the Hygge ottomans feature three legs and rounded seats.

Accessories that attach to the legs add more functionality while optimizing the ottomans for public or residential spaces. The accessories include a small round table for a cup of coffee or tea and a longer table that provides extra space for items. A divider separates two areas of an ottoman; it also provides a sturdy grip for people who need some help to get up from the seat. Designed with different sizes, the Hygge seating offers an easy solution to create a dynamic composition in a larger room. Thanks to their Nordic style, they also complement a wide range of interiors.

The Hygge collection comes in three versions. While the black option enhances the minimalist lines, the light sandy color highlights the collection’s Scandinavian soul. Finally, the dark brown color palette gives a touch of warmth to these modern ottomans. Apart from their distinctive appearance, the ottomans also put a focus on craftsmanship and sustainable production methods. Karl Andersson & Söner use solar energy in the production process as well as efficient CNC techniques paired with traditional artisan skills. The Hygge collection features oak or ash wood frames with different finishes, cold-cured foam cushions, and removable fabric or leather covers. Photographs© Kauppi & Kauppi.
