Inspired by a collection from 1995, this new range of IKEA pieces bring a sense of fun and playfulness into living spaces.
Following on the footsteps of the 1995 PS collection that promoted the idea of Democratic Design, IKEA has launched the 2026 edition that keeps the same sense of fun at its core. The Swedish brand has introduced three new pieces from the new collection, which will make its debut in May: a rocking bench, a flexible lamp, and an inflatable chair. The latter draws inspiration from IKEA’s failed range of inflatable furniture of the ‘90s, perfecting the concept for a new generation of design lovers.
Designed by Mikael Axelsson, the new IKEA inflatable chair boasts a robust steel frame that holds a tubular backrest and a generously sized, rounded seat. Inspired by tractor tires, the internal chambers fill with air, providing exceptional comfort. A textile cover ensures no sliding or squeaking while giving the chair a stylish look with an emerald green color. Like all IKEA products, the chair comes efficiently packed in a compact box. A foot pump allows you to easily inflate the chair and enjoy its coziness, while the design enables easy storage and transportation.
We all know about rocking chairs, but what about a rocking bench? Designer Marta Krupińska turned to memories of celebrations and friendly get-togethers to create the IKEA rocking bench. Crafted from solid pine wood, the bench provides room for two, emphasizing the idea of fun, closeness, and happy moments that stay with you for a lifetime.
Multifunctionality sits at the heart of the minimalist floor lamp designed by Lex Pott. Cut at 45° angles, the joints of the steel lamp allow users to transform it into an uplighter, reading lamp or spotlight. It comes in three beautiful colors that each bring something different to a space while fitting into any décor. Bright yellow warms up a room, cobalt blue adds a touch of nobility and timelessness, and Bordeaux red brings a classic accent to modern spaces.
Centered around playfulness, the new IKEA 2026 PS collection shows how beautiful pieces of furniture can not only serve a practical purpose, but how they can also bring joy to the everyday.
