“I’m Not There” by Pol Úbeda Hervàs

The photographic series by Pol Úbeda Hervàs “I’m not there” suggests a pending state of being. Ghost like images reveal a reflection in the water, yet no one standing there to take ownership. Every picture has the same pair of precisely positioned shoes leaving a clue as to the type of man that was there at one time, other than that all we have to go off of is a silhouette with a shaggy hairline.
They give notion that you could disappear from today (maybe tomorrow too), but still leave a trail that you were here, a legacy, you know, without the blood sweat and tears.

How can we accept that we are changing?
How can we accept we hardly recognize ourselves in certain situations?
I am changing at this very moment of my life.
I do not react in the same ways I used to. I am surprised. Is that me?
These pictures are the way I see myself now.
My shadow is there but I erase myself because I don´t know who I am any longer.
The shoes remain only to make sure there is something more than… a shadow.
