Located in Valdaora, a popular ski and hiking area in the stunning mountainous landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Dolomites, the Hubertus wellness hotel offers a peaceful home away from home to its guests. Recent renovations expanded the hotel with two new wings, terraces and restaurants, but the most spectacular addition is the new Sky Pool. Designed by noa*, a Red Dot Design Award winning studio founded by a team of young architects and designers in Bolzano, Italy, the elevated swimming pool sits in between the two new wings and connects the old and the new.

Built from anthracite-colored stone, the pool rests on native larch trunks and seemingly floats above the ground, respecting the topography of the site while bridging the gap between the hotel and the spectacular landscape. The cantilevered Sky Pool measures 25m in length and juts forward at a height of 12m from the ground level. The hidden edges create a sense of floating in mid-air, towards the mountains, while the glazed window on the bottom and the glass front help to connect guests with nature in a one-of-a-kind leisure experience they’ll probably remember a lifetime.
