Color us impressed: natural shades taken from the surrounding landscape bring six holiday apartments to life on the island of Paros, Greece.
The Cyclades in Greece are perhaps the ultimate ‘dreamy’ location for quiet vacations focused on relaxation. Think bright white volumes perched high on rocky terrain to optimize access to the best coastal view: the convergence of the sky and the sea in blue colors that almost make you wonder where one ends and the other begins. The Aegean Colors suites keep the dream of the perfect Cycladic getaway alive with a purposeful design that highlights the beauty of the landscape. Athens-based practice The Hive Architects has completed the renovation and redesign of the six holiday apartments for Senia Hotel, transforming them into oases of calm and serenity.
Located on the island of Paros, right next to the Naoussa port, the small holiday apartment building has a classic design with rectangular white volumes and terraces that open to the views. The studio preserved the geometry of the building, but added new elements that work exceptionally well with the original architecture. For example, the new steel frame shades and partitions that not only provide extra-privacy but also cast changing shadows throughout the day and filter the light.
All six apartments provide access to views of the sea. Inside, the studio used color to define the two main zones: the entrance with seating and the sleeping area. Warm terracotta and sky-blue hues add contrast to the pure white walls while connecting the interior design to the landscape: the sky, the sea, and the rocky coast. The apartments also open to private balconies to better connect the interiors to the island. Here, the architects updated spaces with the comfort and well-being of the residents in mind. Aside from daybeds and cozy seating, the team also added compact, white-tiled pools for relaxing outdoors while admiring the Cycladic panorama. Images courtesy of The Hive Architects.
