La Bandita

In a radical wake of his career, John Voigtmann decided to walk away from all the success and prestige in a high profile, fast pace, wild ride of the music industry job in NYC. He followed his gut the whole way to Tuscany, Italy where his passion for life was hiding. It unfolded like a hallmark card, a poetic response to follow his dreams despite all the hurdles it would take to get there. I can imagine his wife’s reaction, “Leave everything and move to beautiful Tuscany?! Of course!  Where’s the plane, I’ll see you there.”  Surely, visions of warm baguettes in the morning and the glow of the sun across the hills in the evening intersected worry, doubt and panic trying to figure out how this would all work, the adventure waiting to great them after customs, the healthy dose of risk involved.

How many of us have thought about taking the plunge?  It can be intimidating, almost paralyzing.  However, for those brave enough to try, I’m sure they would tell you it is absolutely worth it.

La Bandita is an Italian retreat sprawling across the countryside with breathtaking views for miles. The stone farm buildings were constructed with the same old world romance, tapping into our souls with archways and curiously tiny windows. All around the property gardens are beautifully maintained, setting the stage for the luxurious infinity pool side and sun drenched patio. Flocks of gentle sheep graze on the adjacent property just as they always have for many, many years, like a framed story book waiting for you to turn the page. All you have to do is pour the wine, because with the full time in house chef and many other amenities, guests can feel pampered without a care in the world.

Allison Parker is a proud stay at home mom maintaining a full schedule kissing boo boos and passing out hugs just because. Her days many times are spent between the garden and the kitchen. From a journey of learning whole food eating habits, she's taken on the challenges of baking bread, muffins and cakes from scratch and filling the cellar shelves with scores of her own canned goods each year. Writing is one of those things she does because its part of who she is. That and it's a nice break from the never ending work that comes with raising a family.
