The Junghans Max Bill Solar Watch Collection

The iconic Max Bill watch series, now available with radio-controlled, solar-powered movements.

One of the most iconic watch collections, the Junghans Max Bill series celebrates the elegant minimalism and clarity in design of the Bauhaus movement. We’re big fans of these wristwatches, whether they’re a regular version or a limited-edition anniversary edition, so we’re happy to see that the German brand has introduced new variations. The Junghans Max Bill Solar Watch collection features the same beloved, Bauhaus-inspired dials, but with solar-powered movements.

The series comprises six Max Bill Mega Solar watches that feature the same timeless dials with clean lines and minimal detailing. Made with either titanium or stainless steel cases that measure 38 mm in diameter, these wristwatches are both lightweight and extremely durable. Additionally, the series comprises cases with matte or polished surfaces as well as golden PVD finishes. The dials feature either only line makers or a combination of line markers and Arabic numerals. They come in matte white or matte gray, with eco-friendly luminous coatings on markers or on the markers and hands. All variations of the Max Bill solar watch have a date window at the 3 o’clock mark.

Extreme precision and durability in the same timeless design.

The entire collection is powered by radio-controlled movements that offer incredible accuracy. The caliber J101.85 movements work with solar-powered cells that charge in sunlight. However, these German-made movements also have a power-saving mode. This setting allows them to work perfectly in total darkness, for up to three years. As for time zones, users can adjust them with the crown or through the Junghans Mega app. The watches also adjust for daylight saving times automatically, for more convenience.

Other features of the Max Bill solar watch series include a domed or convex sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both sides; sun or world map motifs on the back of the case; and water-resistance up to 50 meters or 5 bar. Finally, the watches come with different straps that beautifully complement the dials and cases. The series features both leather straps with quick-release buckles and vegetable tanned calf leather straps with Alcantara lining and titanium buckles. Other options include vegan apple-fiber straps with microfiber lining and a classic titanium Milanese bracelet. Finally, the 59/2022.46 variation has received the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.
