Designed by Atelier BOOM-TOWN with a contemporary aesthetic and solid wood cladding, the refined Bécassines Cottage blends into the natural landscape perfectly. The modern cottage house stands on the shores of the Lake Memphremagog in Potton, Canada, surrounded by tall trees and vegetation. Following the topography of the site, the structure features four cubic volumes around a central space that connects the entrance at the top of the slope to the lowest level which leads to the lake. Spacious and bright, the four large bedrooms and dormitory can accommodate a group of more than twelve people.
At the heart of the house, the dining room boasts a monumental ceiling and a glazed wall which overlooks the water, with the kitchen and the living room at the two opposite sides. The dining area also has a sliding door that expands the space onto the wooden terrace. On the upper floor, a balcony with a glass panel provides the perfect opportunity to admire the lake views and take in the scents and sounds of the forest. Throughout the cottage, the studio used cedar and spruce as well as glass, concrete, marble, quartz, and stained wood. The color palette varies from dark brown and black to gray and white.
