Drawing inspiration from the natural process of bark peeling from trees, and channeling the timeless aesthetic of modernist Marcel Breuer’s plywood furniture, the Peel chair paints an illusion. On first sight, the impression is that the chair has been expertly crafted from one continuous piece of plywood, which looks as though it has been gently unfurled and bent into a smooth form. The seamless transition from the backrest to the legs and the seat pan creates an aesthetically pleasing, continuous line that is strikingly unique to the chair’s side profile.
In terms of materials, plywood was the choice, and for a reason. Not only is it a low-cost alternative, but it also enables sustainable sourcing and manufacturing.
