Seaview House, located near the shore of Victoria, Australia, lives up to its name by providing a trinity of experiences that unite the house’s interiors with the surrounding sea. Jackson Clements Burrows Architects played with the idea of using pavilions – three of them, the south, northwest, and northeast – to guard a central courtyard from the sea breeze. Each of these gabled spaces relies on their wooden interiors to create a warm environment from which fantastic views are captured through framed panels of glazing. According to the client’s request, a semi-basement garage is hidden beneath one of these pavilions, so that function yields to form and ambience.
