Down under, modern furniture design soars to new level of refinement.

Established in 1992 in Melbourne, Australia, outdoor furniture brand Tait has been making gorgeous products focused on authentic Australian design and expert craftsmanship for more than 25 years. The company not only pays homage to tradition and artisanal skill, but also celebrates the Australian outdoor lifestyle with ultra-cool furniture that blends modern design cues and function. Apart from master craftspeople, co-founders Gordon Tait and Susan Tait also collaborate with leading Australian designers to create the brand’s range of sophisticated outdoor furniture.

Every product is a love letter to Australia. From the premium materials to the designers who shape the pieces and the artisans who craft each item to perfection. Every piece has a distinct concept at its core, refined to find its essence through considered design. A team of craftspeople then makes the prototype in the brand’s Melbourne factory, bringing the original idea to life. Artisan skill and innovative techniques as well as premium materials and sustainable practices come together to create the final product. Designed to look at home in contemporary living spaces, Tait products are also meant to last a lifetime.

The company highlights its dedication to craftsmanship with its own Maker’s Mark. For centuries, these marks have bee used by craftsmen to mark their work as their own. Here, the Tait Maker’s Mark is a symbol of the company’s heritage and passion for creating original, well-designed and expertly made products. This seal of authenticity appears on all Tait furniture, embossed on harder materials or sewn on soft fabrics.

The Volley Rocker brings together all of the above in a clean, modern design that oozes style. A steel mesh seat and backrest remind of volley or tennis matches in the sun. Splashes of color on the rope details add vibrancy to this ultra-cool chair. The deep seat provides maximum comfort. The Victorian Ash wood rocking rails allow the user to relax completely in the garden, by the pool, or indoors. Easy to customize, this rocking chair comes with a range of powder coat finishes as well as an array of bright or dark rope colors. The brand also offers a seat pad option with a fabric suited for outdoor use. Made to last a lifetime, the Volley Rocker costs around $1,200. Photographs© Tait.
