Thom Fougere is a furniture designer based in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Place informs his work, especially in the case of the Tyndall Table, a stone coffee table inspired by prairie topography and rich with fossil deposits. His other designs, from the Bench Rack to the Square Side Table, are made for maximum utility. Fulfilling two jobs, the Bench Rack hangs clothes and provides space for storage above and beneath its wooden plank. Likewise, Fougere’s side and end tables provide space for books and other small items on top and inside of their simple forms. Finding elegance in function, Fougere’s work reflects traditional values, contemporary sensibility, and local wonder.
