The Volar Stool

An eye-catching stool with a cantilevered seat.

Founded by Argentinian-born Australian designer Alexander Lotersztain, Derlot is a Brisbane-based furniture and lighting brand that makes contemporary products with a distinctive, modern aesthetic and a perfect balance between function and versatility. We have previously featured their BRUT-AL series of aluminum seating. Now, we want to introduce you to another design from the Derlot collection. Designed by Alexander Lotersztain, the Volar stool features an eye-catching, cantilever frame that gives a light feel to the design while also making the stool look sculptural. At the same time, the curved tubular frame and the four legs make the stool especially sturdy and stable.

The cantilevered seat mirrors the circular shape of the footrest. Likewise, the seat’s metal support curves to provide a perfect grip when moving the stool from one area or room to another. Crafted with quality materials, Volar pairs a steel frame with a wooden seat. The frame comes with a white or a black powder coated finish, as well as a range of bright or neutral custom colors. As for the seat, it’s made from American oak with a natural or a black stained finish. Customers can also order it in black or white LDPE, or with bespoke textile or leather upholstery. When finished with a zinc coating and made with the LDPE seat, Volar also suits outdoor areas. The stool comes in two heights. Finally, Volar suits any setting, from residential and commercial to hospitality and educational spaces. Photographs © Derlot.
