9 flats in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona

Charming seems to be just the word to describe a residential building renovated in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. Designers didn’t just tear through the space and make it brand new. Rather, they tenderly took the time to discover what the past left them to enhance the project for use today. Mixing patterns in floors and tiles suppress our tendencies for sheen balance. Instead we feel so satisfied in leaving things just as they are, gravitating toward imperfection and room for emotion. The building brings a deep attachment to the age old streets it has sat on for so, so many years. Beauty lies about in the deep beamed ceilings, tall Juliette balconies, raw wood beams that patch walls, and unforgettable tile flooring. Project headed up by lead designer Miralles Tagliabue EMBT.
