Desiring to reconnect with his New Zealand roots, NYC based architect David Berridge created a space where cozy tight quarters can blend in with the soothing paradise of beach life. The pie-shaped terrain this structure stands on narrows out as it slopes up the hillside in Coromandel, New Zealand. Because of the limited amount of space, the rooms were designed to a minimized size to create a flexible living environment that easily connects to the outdoors. Berridge incorporated the same proportions of his midtown Manhattan dwelling into the living areas here and also used the same layout and details of his New York kitchen. The supreme tranquility of the beach scene floats into the home and also onto the outdoor decks that’s open to nature’s breathtaking views.
