Architectural Installations for SALT Cultural Festival

View all 7 Photos

Created by architect Sami Rintala of Rintala Eggertsson and artist Joar Nango for the SALT cultural festival, this architectural installation is spread out on the beach so that revelers engage with the environment to “discover” the spaces. The project includes a kitchen, a sauna, a tent, and a viewing deck, all of which blend contemporary style with traditional materials. The angular buildings sometimes stand on stilts or feature irregularly shaped windows or no walls, yet all of them are unified with one another because they are crafted solely from wood. The architecture and event will be open to the public starting August 29. The SALT festival kicks off on the Sandhornøya island in Norway and will then travel to Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Ireland, Scotland, Alaska, and Russia.
