The Coffee Watch

Meet the world’s first watch made with recycled coffee grounds.

For all coffee lovers out there, we’ve got some great news. Now, you can wear your favorite hot drink on your wrist, courtesy of German watch manufacturer Lilienthal Berlin. The company specializes in elegant, beautifully designed, handmade watches, which have already received the most prestigious design awards. Among the brand’s products, the Coffee Watch stands out with its ingenious, sustainable design. The world’s first watch made from coffee, this timepiece features a one of a kind case that boasts integrated coffee grounds. To make the cases, the company collaborates with cafés and roasters from the Berlin area. The recycled coffee grounds are then combined with plant-based components by Kaffeeform, a company that has previously produced a coffee cup from recycled coffee.

The material is not only durable, recyclable, resistant to scratches, and comfortable to wear, but also emanates a faint scent of coffee. Carbon-neutral, this is one of the most eco-friendly timepieces you can find. Plus, the stylish case has a rounded shape that reminds of coffee beans. Each watch boasts different grain patterns, with the coffee grounds giving the watch a rich texture and warm hues. The case also features one of Lilienthal Berlin’s award-winning innovations: a recessed crown in the case back. This detail preserves the perfectly round shape of the case and enhances comfort at the same time.

Completed with a dark, galvanized sunburst finish, the dial complements the warmth of the case. The face also features engraved hour markers and two elegant hands. The stainless steel strap made from interwoven strands of 316L surgical stainless steel comes with a convenient quick-release mechanism. Apart from the recycled coffee grounds case that measures 42.5 mm, the Coffee Watch also features a sapphire-hardened mineral glass and a Swiss Ronda quartz movement. Like other products from the brand, this one is made in Germany and is 100% carbon neutral. Photography © Lilienthal Berlin.
