Zurich, Switzerland
Rasmus Norlander is an architecture photographer with studios in Zürich and Stockholm. Active since 2004, his practice focuses on architecture and the built environment, with work across Europe and particularly in Switzerland, Germany, and Scandinavia.
Norlander works with analog 4×5 large-format cameras, a demanding format that keeps the photograph closely tied to the act of making it. Each image begins on ground glass, where the building is composed slowly, perspective is adjusted in camera, and light is measured before a single sheet of film is exposed. His portfolio includes buildings, interiors, infrastructure, and still life, with commissions for architects, design studios, institutions, publications, and brands. Across these subjects, his images keep architecture clear: its volume, surfaces, details, and relationship to the surrounding place.
