Egg-Shaped Beach Cabins in South Korea

View all 14 Photos

Called “Albang,” these egg-shaped cabins were created by Yoon Space Design and now line a beachfront in South Korea. The eight mobile pods are handmade from common polystyrene plastic so that they are lightweight and portable. The designers intend for the pods to travel from beach to beach, docking on weighted stands to that they will not blow away in the wind. Each mobile dwelling has a white shell and a brightly colored door that opens up and out with a metal hinge. The futuristic design has two round windows that seem to glow with mystery after dark. In the spirit of camping, the interior is spartan, decorated with only green and blue linoleum floors, so that campers can easily reimagine the small space for themselves.
