An elegant armchair designed with contrasting elements.

Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Resident designs and makes furniture and lighting for design-conscious people. The firm creates products that blend creativity and innovation with simple, versatile forms. Designed for modern lifestyles, the brand’s collections aim to improve the everyday. They are also crafted to withstand the passage of time with elegance and become heirlooms. Resident’s designs, be it a lamp or a comfortable armchair, can blend into contemporary interiors with ease but they can also become a deliberate focal point in a room. The Isabella Chair is a perfect example of the studio’s creative approach to design.

Designed by Resident co-founder and Creative Director Simon James, the chair combines contrasting features in an elegant way. Ultra slim, the three legs and steel base provide excellent support to the weighty, plush seat. The refined design creates a dialogue between the linear silhouette of the metal and the soft, curved shape of the seat and backrest. Supremely comfortable, the elegant Isabella Chair suits a wide range of interiors and spaces. It looks equally at home in a living room or in an office. Plus, its hard-wearing build ensures it also suits commercial interiors. It has a timber and steel frame, while the upholstery features a multi-density feather and foam filling. Resident offers the chair in a variety of colors and fabrics and provides worldwide shipping with a 6-week lead time. Photographs©: Resident.
