Piston Head: Artists Engage the Automobile is a collection of artfully rebuilt and painted muscle cars from the good old days. Featuring models like the Ford Galaxie and the Dodge Challenger, these automobiles were refaced by notable designers. Richard Prince managed to color block the sweet rides in a way that says minimalist, clean, vibrant, modern cool.  Keith Haring (passed 1990) dazzled his own version of class on a Buick. Franz West  (passed 2012) swapped out a 1970 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament with one of his Passstuck creations. Every artist has their own way of adding their flavor to an old classic. The impressive line up of contributors includes Ron Arad, Bruce High Quality Foundation, César, Dan Colen and Nate Lowman, Damien Hirst, Virginia Overton, Olivier Mosset/Jacob Kassay/Servane Mary, Richard Phillips, Tom Sachs, Salvatore Scarpitta, Kenny Scharf, and of course as mentioned above, Richard Prince, Keith Haring, and Franz West. Presented by Venus Over Manhattan at the Art Basel Week in Miami from December 3-8, 2013.

I find a way to fearlessly provoke your senses and take you by the heart to whatever it is I’m writing about. My sweet spot is creative writing, but for the last 20 years I have been providing freelance content for publications on sustainability and green practices, design, architecture, fashion, and non-profit charity. Recently all wrapped up in producing my first book. I have bounced from NYC to Indianapolis, but my true home is a lovely small town in Central Pennsylvania where there’s a legit drive-your-tractor-to-school-day.
