Architecture, Italians do it better

Renovated Italian Villa

Renovated by XiT Architetti Associati in 2011, this Italian villa graces the sunny countryside of Oderzo. The architects removed previous additions, exposing the original structure, which dates back to the early 1800s. Then, they polished the house inside and out, transforming it into a contemporary family home. The exterior nods to historical styles while emboldening the look with details such as steel-framed arches. Inside, the house stays with a neutral palette, which helps to blend nostalgic touches, such as the rafters, with the newer elements, such as the wine fridge. The architects also made the large home more energy-efficient, installing large windows, skylights, and a PV system. Today, the house relies entirely on solar power.
