Soft curves, organic forms inspired by nature, and a portable design make the Rumee lamp the perfect companion for quiet reading in a bedroom or an intimate dinner in the garden.
Marking the first collaboration between lighting brand Louis Poulsen and designer Gabriel Tan, the Rumee Lamp has something many practical products lack: a bold personality. Inspired by both organic forms found in nature and by the wavy lines of a wide-brimmed hat, this lamp looks almost like a fun character that’s taking a nap on the table or nightstand. Recognizing the impact of the design, Louis Poulsen has awarded their inaugural Designer of the Year award to Gabriel Tan.
“Gabriel Tan has successfully embraced Louis Poulsen’s lighting philosophy, Design to Shape Light, through an emotionally appealing design. With Rumee, he upholds the proud tradition of maintaining high lighting standards while incorporating a distinctive Gabriel Tan design style,” says Monique Faber, Chief Design Officer at Louis Poulsen.
Rumee emanates warmth and a cheery personality, whether it’s morning or late evening. Even the lamp’s name is fun; it combines “rum”, which means room or space in Danish, and the English word “me”, in a playful portmanteau that reminds of “roommate.” Designed with a compact shape and a pleasure-to-hold stem, Rumee can go anywhere, from the bedside table in a living room to the covered patio in the garden.
The tilted shade gives the table lamp an adorable look while providing a downward-facing light for easy reading. At the same time, the frosted texture of the diffuser softens the glow of the lamp and the ambience of any space. Dimmable for more convenience, Rumee has a wireless design for easy carrying. Both the replaceable battery and LED ensure the lamp’s longevity. Finally, this charming Louis Poulsen lamp is manufactured responsibly from primarily recycled plastic.
Available now, the Rumee Lamp comes in three beautiful versions: Cloud White, Earth Gray, and Night Blue. Images courtesy of Louis Poulsen.
