Snow Art, Large Scale Drawings by Sonja Hinrichsen

View all 7 Photos

The quaint animal footprints littered in the snow of high mountain meadows inspired artist Sonja Hinrichsen to find her creativity in the frosted precipitation. Using snowshoes along with the help of five volunteers, she created these large scale snow drawings in the lofty Rabbit’s Ear Pass of the Rocky Mountains. After first completing these unique drawings in Hayden, Colorado and New York, she’s often changed her concept because of the environment and brevity of the snow depending on its depth, texture and moisture. Even though each drawing has a short life span ranging from two to three hours to two to three days, they leave an imprint of blossoming imagination and inspiration unto those lucky enough to experience it.
