As the trend of raising chickens in urban environments continues to grow, the need for a spatially economical coop rises. DEFRA and RSPCA require certain amounts of space for the birds, and for some, proper housing for a chicken can be too costly. The affordable, environmentally friendly design comes from Lucinda Bateman, with Made in Brunel. The rustic yet distinctly post-modern frame of the piece in no way intrudes upon the most important practicality of housing a hen: gathering eggs. It comes ready for basic assembly by any adult. Composed mostly of bamboo and HDPE composite, this chicken coop is relatively light, environmentally sound, and financially undaunting, to boot.
