A lightweight electric folding bike with Bosch’s new HubLine motor, a hinge-free diamond frame, and two versions for commuting, touring, and everyday city use.

Vienna-based VELLO has introduced the VIA+, a new range of electric folding bikes built around Bosch’s HubLine rear-hub motor. Presented as the first electric folding bike to feature the new drive system, the VIA+ combines a compact 20-inch format with e-bike assistance, a removable battery, and VELLO’s patented diamond frame. The range starts at 16.5 kg and is designed for commuters, travelers, and riders who want a bike that can move from the street to public transport, office storage, or a car trunk without the bulk of a standard e-bike.

The main update is the Bosch HubLine system, which delivers up to 45 Nm of torque and 400 W peak power. Integrated sensor technology, including an incline sensor, adjusts the support according to the ride situation, with the Bosch eBike Flow App adding navigation, ride data, theft protection, and system settings. The removable battery has a 250 Wh capacity, with the option to add a second battery for up to 500 Wh total capacity. A USB-C charging function, integrated Supernova lighting, hydraulic Shimano disc brakes, Schwalbe Big Apple tires, and folding mudguards round out the everyday equipment.

The VIA+ uses VELLO’s diamond frame, which removes the folding hinge from the main frame. Instead of cutting the central structure, the bike folds through VELLO’s patented system while keeping a more familiar frame geometry. The frame is made from double-butted Columbus CroMo steel tubing and has been MTB-tested according to ISO 4210, giving the bike a stronger technical profile than most folding models in this category. When folded, it measures 57 × 79 × 29 cm, making it compact enough for storage at home, in the workplace, or on public transport where folded bikes are permitted.

The range comes in two versions. VIA+ TOUR is the more versatile model, with a Shimano Deore 10-speed drivetrain for commuting, longer rides, climbs, touring, and light off-road routes. It weighs from 16.5 kg. VIA+ URBAN is aimed at lower-maintenance city riding, with a Gates Carbon Drive belt system and a UTgear two-speed internal gear hub. It weighs from 16.9 kg and is designed for quieter, cleaner everyday use. Both models are designed in Austria and made in Europe, with introductory pricing starting at €2,990.
