What began as an idea enthusiastically shared between three childhood friends in rural Pennsylvania transformed into an adventure of epic proportions for the whole world to enjoy. The Pan American Trail takes adventure photography to another level, with every stunning landscape and every special moment captured by photographer James Barkman. For the journey’s first stage, Barkman and his friends Jeremy and Allen climbed North America’s tallest mountain, the Mt Denali summit in May 2017, with the rest of the trip characterized by the same blend of motorcycle riding and mountaineering.

Using a Suzuki DR650 bike, the photographer aims to travel over 30,000 miles from Alaska to Patagonia, Argentina. The enduro road rip will last two years, which means that we’ll get to see plenty of fantastic photos from the trail. Whether it’s the snowy top of a majestic mountain, or the muddy chain of a bike undergoing repairs, every image makes one eager to start exploring. Check out the photographer’s Instagram for more updates on the epic trip’s progress. Photographs© James Barkman.
