A sculptural concrete speaker that explores the geometry of sound.

Founded in 2014, NYC-based brand Master & Dynamic now sells high-end audio products throughout the world. Driven by a mission to combine expert craftsmanship, premium materials, and exquisite audio quality, the company makes modern speakers and headphones for the design-savvy consumers. With the MA770 concrete speaker, Master & Dynamic take things to a whole new level. The design is a creative collaboration between the audio company and renowned architect Sir David Adjaye. Unsurprisingly, this is no an ordinary wireless speaker. The sculptural shape reminds of architectural designs, while the elegant lines explore a dynamic silhouette.

“I became fascinated with the idea of using triangles to break down the mass of the box, and to see if we could dissolve the sense of volume through sculptural detail. We created a new geometry for this speaker. A new geometry of sound,” says Sir David Adjaye. The MA770 concrete speaker features a distinctive aesthetic, blending bold shapes and audio-focused craftsmanship. The proprietary concrete composite material gives the speaker a clearer sound as well as reduced resonance. At the same time, the concrete increases dampening and reduces vibrations better than wood or plastic.

The speaker features anodized aluminum controls as well as a removable stainless steel grille. Made with magnetic attachments, the grille allows the user to uncover the front of the speaker and put the smooth hand-finished concrete and the exposed components on display. In terms of specs, MA770 impresses further. It comes with dual 4″ woven Kevlar long throw woofers, a 1.5″ titanium tweeter, and 100 Watts of Class D amplification. The wireless concrete speaker also comes with Bluetooth 4.1 with BLE, built-in Chromecast that offers access to Spotify, Pandora, Soundcloud, among others, WiFi connectivity, as well as auxiliary analog and optical inputs. MA770 is perfect on its own, in a stereo set-up, or as part of a multi-room system. Retailing at $1,800, the Master & Dynamic MA770 speaker comes in Gray or Black. Photographs© Master & Dynamic.
