A diving watch inspired by the sea.

Founded by life-long horology enthusiast and vintage dive watch collector Mario Jutronic, Croatian brand Marnaut aims to bring a fresh perspective in the world of diving timepieces. The independent company makes high-performance watches for those with active lifestyles. The adventurers who need a watch they can depend on while exploring uncharted places. Inspired in part by mid-century modern timepieces, the Marnaut Dark Surge 300M Dive Watch also looks to the sea to stand out from the crowd. More specifically, it references the distinctive patterns and symmetry of sea urchins.

A dial like no other took shape during the design stage. “Our goal was to create a timepiece with the same spirit and originality brought to life by the legends of a more honest time, like the Submariners, the Fifty Fathoms, the Seamaster 300s. I did not want to create a homage timepiece but something simple, honest and original,” says Mario Jutronic. Featuring 46 metal indexes, the Marnaut Dark Surge 300M enamel-finished dial is distinctive and creative. Intricate yet straightforward at the same time, the watch boasts a perfectly balanced pattern that simplifies the motifs found on sea urchins. For optimal visibility, the indexes feature a premium quality Super-LumiNova C3 coating.

The domed shaped sapphire crystal is scratch-proof, while the screw-down back cover and double O-ring screw-down crown guarantee water resistance for up to 300 meters. The 316L stainless steel case also features a 120-click unidirectional rotating bezel made of anodized aluminum. Inside, the automatic Miyota 9015 24-jewel movement beats with 28,800bph and has a 42-hour power reserve. Silicone and distressed Italian leather straps complete the design.

The Marnaut Dark Surge 300M Dive Watch comes in three versions. These range from two-tone black to silver and black IP plated. For all of them, the independent watch brand will limit production at 300 pieces for the first year. Every watch will boast a unique serial number which the user can verify via QR code in a two-step process. Launched on Kickstarter, the new Marnaut Dark Surge 300M Dive Watches are available to backers at a 30% price reduction from the future retail price. The prices range from $449 to $499, with two straps and a travel pouch also included. If you want to grab your own diving watch, keep in mind that the campaign ends on September 26th, 2108.
