At Skype’s headquarters in Palo Alto, California, the cushions are bright and the lounges are….well, everywhere. Their philosophy is to keep the staff in “Agile Thinking” mode, where your environment effects (or in this case, enhances) thought process. The guys at Blitz Architecture + Design set up a number of  stations that provide multiple avenues for interactions, mentally stimulating each other through play, rest, color. They take the drudgery out of the office and replace it with fuzbol, faux grass rugs and rock cushions, electric color pallet throughout. A comforting kitchen space with room to congregate takes center stage just like every other heart of the home. It’s more than your average work experience. It brings the best out, encourages a joyful team, inspires creative juices. Skype has taken care of its people so they can serve you best. They win for positive work space, positively purposeful. Photographs by Matthew Millman and HoffmanChrisman.

I find a way to fearlessly provoke your senses and take you by the heart to whatever it is I’m writing about. My sweet spot is creative writing, but for the last 20 years I have been providing freelance content for publications on sustainability and green practices, design, architecture, fashion, and non-profit charity. Recently all wrapped up in producing my first book. I have bounced from NYC to Indianapolis, but my true home is a lovely small town in Central Pennsylvania where there’s a legit drive-your-tractor-to-school-day.
