A collection that brings Italian design, soul, and tradition to modern tech products.

Based in Teramo, Italy, Mario Alessiani designs furniture and home accessories with a focus on simplicity, function, small-scale production, and traditional craftsmanship. His Soul_Tech collection of one-off designs follows the same recipe. At the same time, the range aims to bring artisan skill and Italian soul to modern technology and everyday tech objects. The Soul_Tech Bluetooth Speaker features a weathering steel and glass build, shunning both plastic and mass-production techniques. The speaker box has beautiful textures and a rounded form, while the glass support boasts a simple square shape.

The designer created two speaker versions. One has a black finish with subtle textures while the other boasts a coppery, rusty hue with eye-catching weathering patterns. Apart from the Bluetooth speaker, the Soul_Tech collection also includes a wireless smartphone charger and a touch screen pen. While the charger features a wood, copper, and brass build, the pen has a brass or aluminum body. All of the designs explore the concept of bringing traditional craftsmanship to serial production. Soul_Tech highlights the difference between an artisan crafted and a machine-made product, using everyday, modern technology to drive the point home. Photographs© Mario Alessiani Design.
