The Comfort Gun by Francis North

View all 6 Photos

With all the buzz on gun control, some turn to a more regressive note. The Comfort Gun takes the hyper-protective Americans that sleep with their guns to a thumb sucking, blankey holding bedtime level. A cozy heated water pad in the shape of a gun sits loaded for warm fuzzies all night long. Snug in its holster with a tender loving pink rubber casing intimidates no one, turns a violent icon into a soothing sleeper. Creator Francis North is a second year student at Kingston University speaks about his piece, “For it to work effectively as an object, I had to make sure it has all the visual and tactile characteristics of a real hot water bottle” and describes the design as a “visual statement on the recent status of firearms in America.”
