A beautifully designed, expertly crafted, and easy to assemble bed frame.
Made by San Francisco-based brand Thuma, The Bed aims to help you create the perfect bedroom by putting a focus on simplicity, functionality, and sustainability. The simple design draws inspiration from sources as varied as architecture, fashion, Japanese craftsmanship, and modern lifestyles. It features clean lines and elegant rounded corners to complement any interior. The easy to assemble bed frame also boasts an elevation with a 9” clearance. Thus, it offers the perfect storage space.
Each bed is one-of-a-kind, as Thuma uses repurposed wood to handcraft every frame. The rubberwood comes from nearby tree plantations, reducing the products’ carbon footprint. Furthermore, the company uses only wood from trees that have already reached the end of their latex producing cycle. A natural walnut coloring enhances grain textures and knot patterns further. Sturdy and long-lasting, this easy to assemble bed frame features double-strength slats that offer perfect mattress support and breathability. This design also ensures that the frame doesn’t need box springs or bed skirts. An eco-friendly felt made from recycled plastic provides an anti-slip surface as well as sound reduction. The PillowBoard replaces the classic headboard and blends function with comfort. It features supportive foam backing and a washable linen-weave cover.
Crafted in a small-batch production with a traditional Japanese technique, The Bed features minimal hardware and allows the user to assemble the frame in minutes. On the bottom, the legs have cork padding that protects flooring. Shipped for free in eco-friendly packaging with recycled cardboard instead of styrofoam, the easy to assemble bed frame costs $895 and comes in three boxes that make transportation easy. Apart from using eco-conscious production methods and materials, Thuma has also partnered with One Tree Planted. This means that every sold platform bed frame results in one planted tree.
