Barcelona, Spain
Founded by Bernat Riera and Sergi Puig, SIGLA Studio is an architecture and interior design practice based in Barcelona’s Eixample district. Its work ranges from the renovation of city apartments to new family houses. Riera studied in Barcelona and Delft and worked in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, while Puig began his career at RSanabria Arquitectes Associats. Their projects start with an understanding of the building or site and the daily needs of the people who will live there.
In Casa Salvador, the architects restored patterned tile floors, plaster moldings, and original woodwork, introducing a kitchen in steel, red Alicante marble, and cherry wood. Casa Patio in Cardedeu carries their interest in traditional materials into a new brick house, with openings arranged for daylight and cross ventilation. An adaptable upper floor allows the rooms to change as the household’s needs evolve.
