In the Woaw collection, designer Nader Gammas uses bold colors and the memory of childhood toys to cast the traditional candelabra in an entirely new light.
There are many ways to design a lamp that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, whether the path is more traditional or more unconventional. Dubai-based lighting designer Nader Gammas has taken the road less traveled with the Woaw collection. Inspired by childhood toys and the combination of bold, bright colors, the designer brings a sense of fun and playfulness to the traditional candelabra. Eye-catching and vibrant, these table and floor lamps look like modern sculptures that brighten both a home and its décor. In a subtle way, the style reminds of the Memphis Group, but these lamps have a more restrained design that uses only color and clear forms to reimagine a common item as an art object.
Nader Gammas introduced the collection through his Mr. John’s Goods brand, a label that aims to make designer lighting more accessible. Created to bring more joy to living spaces, the Woaw lamps have toy-like shapes with simplified geometric forms which attract immediate attention with vivid color combinations. Full of charm, the lamps come in a wide range of sizes and with different numbers of shades to suit any space, from small desks to large living rooms. The table lamps come in single, single single, single double, double, and double tilt versions. Taller to brighten larger areas, the floor lamps come in single, single single, single double, triple, and double tilt versions.
The Woaw lamps are not only meant to become focal points in a room, but they are also crafted to last. Both the table and the floor lamps combine sturdy steel bodies with ceramic shades that soften the light. 6W LEDs provide brightness with an eco-friendly twist, while a 3-region plug makes the lamps suitable for homes across the US, UK, and the EU.
