Candle Brick by Sebastian Bergne

Building bright focal points inside living spaces, one brick at a time.

Since founding his eponymous studio in 1990, the same year he graduated from the Royal College of Art in London, industrial designer Sebastian Bergne has been transforming everyday items into distinctive objects that are as charming as they are practical. For example, the Ring Soap, which not only offers a fresh take on the classic bar of soap, but also optimizes function by removing the need for a dish soap. With Candle Brick, the designer takes a traditional building material and uses it to create an eye-catching home accessory.

Following a limited-edition series made in collaboration with The Art Design Lab, Sebastian Bergne now offers the design in two versions: unglazed and glazed. Both versions are carefully handmade in London and feature unique, rough textures that preserve the warmth and craft quality of brick. The unglazed candle holders come with a sealed surface and boast a rich terracotta color, while the glazed versions feature a range of colors and patterns. Options range from Dark Grey Green, Dripping Cobalt Blue and Rough Grey Blue to Orange Dip or Dark Turquoise.

Regardless of color and finish, Candle Brick can be used as an individual candle holder or in a sculptural composition with several stacked elements. The single Candle Bricks come either in a cotton bag with two candles or in a beautiful wood box with four candles, ready to give as a gift. Additionally, the studio offers a series of brick compositions in different configurations ranging from three to seven bricks, combined using construction materials and gray mortar.
