A futuristic-style scooter with a swappable battery system.

Following their previous collaboration that led to the creation of EC-05 in 2019, Yamaha Motor and Taiwan-based company Gogoro joined forces once again to launch another electric scooter. Named EMF, this scooter has a futuristic design that blends angular shapes and sculpted forms in a dynamic silhouette. A dark finish completes the look. The electric scooter features a chassis based on the Gogoro Design Kit, but it’s produced by Yamaha’s Taiwan division. EMF also comes with small-diameter wheels that ensure fantastic acceleration. A highlight of the design, the swappable battery system allows the user to keep the scooter ready to go. Furthermore, EMF will have access to the range of GoStation® battery-swapping stations, already installed throughout Taiwan.

Other features include minimal taillights, a shortened tail, and practical storage space. Yamaha hasn’t released tech specs yet, but the scooter comes with two LED headlights and a TFT display that provides a convenient way to ride the EMF. Apart from a navigation system and other important info, the display also works with a custom app that allows the user to turn the scooter on and off remotely using an NFC card. The design marks a new step in Yamaha’s mission to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Yamaha will launch the EMF electric scooter- for now only in Taiwan – in March 2022. Photographs© Yamaha Motor.
