The Argo Watch

An award-winning, elegant Italian watch that draws inspiration from the Argo constellation and ancient sextants.

It’s not often that we see watch companies looking to the ancient world for inspiration to make ultra-modern designs, but Italian designers can really pull it off. Designed by Cesare Zuccaro for Italian brand Gravithin, the award-winning Argo watch references both the old constellation of Argo and ancient sextants used for celestial navigation with its sleek, imaginative design. This one of a kind timepiece is as eye-catching as it is elegant.

Argo features a double dial with engraving at different points and dot markers reminiscent of stars. A bright red hand reminds of the lens of old sextants, while the incision around the dial reminds of their graduated arc. Bronze-colored lines, numbers, and dots stand out against the dark dial, along with the light blue accents and subtle date window. The handmade Argo watch also allows customization. The company offers it in Deep Blue and Black Sea dial colors and with Gold, Silver, or Black cases.

Straps enhance the design’s elegance further; customers can choose between leather and mesh straps, in six different colors. All straps feature a quick-release mechanism for more convenience and a buckle with a recessed shape for extra comfort. Made from genuine Italian leather, the straps boast creases, pores, and unique markings that highlight their natural beauty. Solid stainless steel parts ensure a secure fastening. Finally, Gravithin has chosen a more creative packaging design to celebrate their high-end watch; the stylish box perfectly complements the imaginative concept of the timepiece as well as its refined design. The Gravithin Argo watch has received the Gold A’ Design Award 2020. Photographs© Gravithin.
