Unbound childhood creativity and the joy of bringing new ideas to life are the beating heart of this playful porcelain collection.
Created in a collaboration between Dutch designer Annebet Philips and Serax, the Carte Blanche collection brings a touch of whimsy to everyday rituals. Inspired by the potential of a blank page and the cardboard cutouts that translate a designer’s idea into a concrete object, the series of porcelain pieces provides a playful twist on traditional tableware.
To bring her vision to life, the designer first created cardboard prototypes with childlike shapes and uneven edges. These artistic details remain in the porcelain versions, giving the Carte Blanche set its distinctive look. Hand-painted lines accentuate the “folds”, making the pieces appear almost paper-like.
The range initially comprised a coffee and a tea set, with espresso, cappuccino and tea cups, along with a teapot and a milk jug. Later, the collection expanded with other tableware for daily use, including dessert and breakfast plates as well as a breakfast bowl, an egg cup, and a salt and pepper set. All of the pieces are made of quality porcelain with hand-painted lines which make them one-of-a-kind. Finally, the Carte Blanche series is both microwave- and dishwasher-safe, bringing together everyday convenience with the charm of whimsical design. Photography© Serax.
