A limited-edition collection of minimalist backpacks that celebrate the Bauhaus art school and the principles of sustainable design.

Founded by architect Walter Gropius in 1919, the Bauhaus art school had a significant impact on the world of modern design, architecture, interior design, and art. Today, the Bauhaus design principles of minimalism, functionality and innovation influence the work of a wide range of designers, from firmly established to up-and-coming. Berlin-based brand Ucon Acrobatics used the same concepts to create a stunning collection of bags and backpacks, adopting “minimal design, minimal emission” as a motto.

The Ucon Acrobatics Bauhaus Backpacks - Gessato

The Ucon Acrobatics collection comprises minimalist backpacks that are not only elegant, versatile and practical, but also sustainably made. Upcycled and recycled materials make the collection eco-friendly, lowering the products’ carbon footprint significantly. In 2024, Ucon Acrobatics has partnered with Bauhaus archive’s bauhaus-shop to introduce a limited-edition collection of backpacks.

The Bauhaus x Ucon Acrobatics collection reimagines the Alison, Hajo and Kito backpacks in a new material and color. In an unusual twist, the exterior material is made of a thin cork layer with a waterproof backing. A blue paint covers the natural light color of the eco-friendly cork while creating a stunning texture. Blending golden and white flecks on a blue backdrop, the material resembles the sky at night.

Practical features that enhance function to make your life easier.

As practical as they are gorgeous, the three backpacks from the collection offer the perfect solution to carry essentials while enhancing your style. For example, practical features include spacious compartments with shock-absorbent pockets for laptops; external pockets with concealed zippers to keep valuable items accessible but protected; roll-tops that can adjust the size of the backpack when needed; flexible pockets for water bottles; and bottom padding or EVA foam linings for dimensional stability and extra protection. An embossed metal ‘Ucon Acrobatics’ metal plate and the bauhaus-shop logo complete the design of these exclusive backpacks.

Keeping true to its green manufacturing principles, Ucon Acrobatics uses renewable cork, recycled PET and vegan materials free of harmful chemicals to produce the limited-edition collection.
