A fresh take on specialty coffee.

Established in 2016 in Marquette, Michigan, Velodrome Coffee Company brings a new perspective to the world of coffee. And to do that, it draws inspiration from an unlikely source: velodrome tracks. This type of track maximizes speed thanks to a specific design, while the bikes which run on it have a minimalist build that removes any unnecessary parts. With that in mind, the company has adopted a strong and straightforward motto: Fast, Simple, Fresh. While the first two words reference a velodrome track, the latter characterizes the brand’s coffee.

Unlike most coffee shops, Velodrome Coffee Company aims to provide an easy way for busy customers to enjoy a cup of specialty coffee, on the go. An optimized brewing process reduces the time to make a cup of joe from around 10 minutes or more to a few moments. This way, the brand wants to welcome new members into the specialty coffee club, with open arms.

A passion for sustainability and a dedication to complete transparency and uncompromising standards also define the company. As a result, the selection of products includes only a few options at a time. The seasonal menu is fresh and premium quality as well as refreshingly simple to turn the focus where it belongs: the coffee. Sourced personally by company founder Brice Sturmer, the coffee beans come from sustainable and environmentally conscious farms throughout the world. The current offerings are sourced from Guatemala, Papua New Guinea, and Burundi, from farms located at 1550 to 2100 meters above sea level.

In an industry first, Velodrome Coffee Company also offers instant coffee with a twist. The product is 100% traceable specialty coffee, but in a convenient instant formula. Sourced, roasted, and freeze-dried by the brand, the VDCC Instant Coffee revolutionizes an often stigmatized product. It transfers the quality of a freshly brewed cup of of java into practical, single-serving packs. Finally, the brand takes the cycling theme to a new level. It offers coffee delivery by bike in Marquette, providing locals with an eco-friendly way to brew quality coffee at home. Photographs courtesy of Velodrome Coffee Company © Vafa.
